Jill Schurig started volunteering with ORHS while still living in St. Louis and coming back-and-forth to the lake. After moving here full-time 8 years ago, Jill volunteered with other organizations, but she always came back to was ORHS. ”I fell in love with the animals and I felt I was needed by them, so I have been volunteering ever since.” Jill has been on the board and the volunteer coordinator for four years. We have wonderful volunteers.! It’s very easy to fall in love with our animals, but it is so rewarding when they go to their forever home. A very proud time for Jill was when her dog Gus, a nine year old rescue Bassett, won the title of “Mayor of Lake Oconee Village”, and became the ORHS mascot.
