Adoption FAQ
Here are some frequently asked questions about our pet adoption process.
Where can I see all of your available animals?
Our website is always up to date reflecting the animals currently available. You are also welcome to visit our adoption center and speak to an adoptions counselor.
Where can I adopt an animal?
You can view all of our animals on line or visit our adoption center. Some of our cats and dogs may be in foster homes so you might want to call first. Be sure to look for our off-site adoption events as well. Not everybody can come all at once, but we are able to talk with you about any of our cats and dogs.
What is the adoption fee?
Our adoption fees cover the cost of the food and medical care we provide the cats and dogs in our program. All animals are dewormed, have age appropriate vaccinations, are spayed or neutered and microchipped. The adoption fee for cats over 1 year is $90, cats under 1 year $125. Our adoption fee for dogs over 1 year is $190, under one year is $250. We often have promotions running throughout the year, so be sure to stay up to date with our promotions by following us on Facebook.
Are animals spayed/neutered prior to adoption?
Yes. ORHS provides spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm or feline combo testing and a microchip for every animal adopted.
Do you offer any discounts for Veterans?
Yes, we have a Pets Love Vets program where eligible veterans may adopt animals for free through our partnership with our local Rotary Club. Ask us about the program.
What is required to adopt an animal?
Can I take my pet home the same day I finalize the adoption?
If the animal is old enough and has already been spayed/neutered, they may be able to go home the same day they are adopted. Animals that are too young or not yet spayed/neutered are still able to be pre-adopted, but may need to stay with us until they are ready to go home.
What is your return policy?
While we want every adoption be a forever home, we do understand that sometimes situations arise and the animal can no longer stay in that particular home. Our request to our adopter is to notify us should it come to that. While we may not be able to accept a return, our utmost concern is for our animals and we will do whatever we can to make sure they are safe and loved.
