The Oconee Regional Humane Society for our fifth annual pet food drive was held on Saturday, May 26th at the Publix shopping center in Greensboro. Volunteers collected cat and dog food from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monetary donations were also accepted. Guests had the opportunity to meet and snuggle some of our dogs and cats who are available for adoption.
Because of your support and donations in 2017, last year ORHS was able to rescue and find forever homes for 126 cats and 265 dogs. We also provided pet food for needy families at Food Distribution days and sponsored spay/neuter procedures for over 450 animals. Your generosity allows us to save the lives of so many animals who would otherwise live lives of neglect, never knowing the love of a forever family. Dogs like Holly, who was one of several dogs abandoned and left to starve after her former owners moved. Holly turned out to be very pregnant and gave birth to seven beautiful puppies shortly after ORHS took her in. Holly and her babies are now all living happily with their new families. She is just one example of the many animals who have needlessly suffered, but your donations change all of this. Thanks to you these animals now know what it feels like to be safe, loved and cared for. Your donations, big or small, create happy endings and save lives.
