Foster a Pet
Foster families play an important role in what we are trying to accomplish at ORHS. Our Foster volunteers help prepare young, shy, senior or animals recuperating from injury or illness, ready to be adopted into forever homes. Their time in your care and not only saves the lives of the animals you’re fostering, but also allows us the extra room to bring more animals into our program.
Fostering animals in need is extremely rewarding! Fostering increases the likelihood of adoption and keeps our pets happier and healthier while waiting for their forever homes. We depend on our foster parents to show these animals what a safe home and a loving care is like. Most importantly, fostering save lives as it allows us to rescue more animals!
Foster parents or families are volunteers who are willing to provide temporary, in-home care for cats, kittens, dogs or puppies. You provide the love, we'll provide the pets and any and all supplies needed. Anyone who loves animals and is willing to donate their time, providing lots of tender, loving care, could make a great foster parent. Ideally, this program is best suited for retirees, homemakers, people who work from home or who have flexible work schedules. We provide medical care.
You must be over 18 years of age and have extra room in your home (separate from other pets). Your current pet(s) must be current with their vaccinations and must be spayed or neutered. You also must have permission from all adult members of your household, and from any landlord or apartment manager if you rent your home.
